He noted that “the list of Betty Murdoch’s contributions to the Bosque Arts Center begins when the organization was called the Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Arts and for the past 20 years Murdoch has given her time and talents to the Center.”
“Murdoch’s many contributions to the arts in Clifton includes years of membership on boards at the Arts Center, and her ongoing commitment to the annual Big Event – she has served as chairman, solicited auction items, worked with the food preparation in the early days, and with decoration and cleanup.”

“She has a long association with the Gallery of Trees-Arts of Christmas as an original member of the event and has served as chair and committee member 15 years. She has served on the Capital Campaign and developed the “Bosque Seven” cards that feature noted area artists past and present.
“She and her husband, Bill, have been supporters and patrons of all the branches of the Bosque Arts Center from the Tin Building Theatre, to the Art Council and the Photography Guild.”
Saturday’s festivities for The Big Event, opened with an hour of visiting, auction viewing in the theatre, music under the big tent, and a dinner by BestYett Catering of Waco.
Following the dinner, B.C. Bennett brought the stage to life for the annual auction, along with his side-kick, “Elvis,” portrayed, amidst much laughter, by George Hallmark. The two’s signature performance on stage during the auction has been on-going since the inception of The Big Event and always manages to keep the crowd laughing — and buying.
Kicking off the auction, B.C. Bennett announced that Chester and Sue Posey had donated $15,000 to start the auction.
This year, the auction provided an abundance of art, travel, sports events, dinners, furniture, jewelry, home appliances, flowers, landscaping service, salon services, and a multitude of other items.
